Andy Cook - Head Coach
I am 46 years old and have been at Pudsey & Bramley AC for 19 years, out of them 19 I have been a coach at the club for 17 years. My job is the sports development officer for the Kirklees council. When I competed for the club my favorite events were the sprints, this is why I went on to becoming a qualified sprints coach. I am also a level 2 field official for the club where I officiate for the club and for West Yorkshire. The best thing about Pudsey & Bramley is seeing the high numbers of youngsters we have at our club, enjoying themselves by doing athletics. I have always loved doing athletics,in my opinion it is the best sport in the world, this is why it is great to see so many young people taking part. My idol is Carl Lewis as he is an all-round sprinter and jumper and this is something that I am really interested in. Pete Watson Stephen Locking I am 19 years old, and I am currently at York St John's University studying sports coaching, my favourite event to compete in is the 5000m. I have been at Pudsey & Bramley for 6 years, and have been coaching in the club for 3 years. I also officiate for the club & West Yorkshire. I am currently a level 2 track & field official but I am working towards my level 2 in starting. The best thing I enjoy about coaching at Pudsey & Bramley AC, is seeing how the athletes enjoy learning new events that they say 'they couldn't do before', then they are just going from strength to strength. My hero in athletics is Derek Redmond this is because, even though he tore his hamstring during a 400m semi-final. He continued to race and showed that it is important never to give up, regardless of the circumstances Ben Cook I am 18 years and at university but I am at Leeds Trinity, studying sports, exercise, health and nutrition. My favorite events are the sprinting events, but in particular 100m and 200m. At the moment I am a level 1 field official. This is important as I help officiate for the club at races. The best thing I enjoy about Pudsey & Bramley AC is, everyone who comes training has fun, but it is an competitive environment, this is important as this would give the athletes the race effect, meaning they would be no surprise when they are competing for the club. My hero in athletics is Usain Bolt; this is because he makes running fast look easy. Everyone who runs immediately thinks of Usain Bolt's speed. He is also very motivational as the athletes all want to be like him so therefore train more frequently.
